                              Arnold Johannes Wilhelm Sommerfeld was born 5 Dec 1868 in Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia) and died 26 April 1868-1951 in Munich, Germany

An excellent and fairly recent book-source is:

M. Eckert, Die Atomphysiker - Eine Geschichte der Theoretischen Physik am Beispiel der Sommerfeldschule. Vieweg Verlag, Braunschweig (Germany), 1993.
